Check engine light on. Dealership indicates failed "gas tank gasket." Dealership indicates entire gas tank has to be replaced. Is it true that the entire gas tank has to be replacec and not just a gasket?

Unfortunately, the "plastic" connection is welded and if it cracks, you have to replace the entire gas tank. Poor engineering if it isn't designed to go 300,000 miles before failure.
