Hello, My Saab 900 SE turbo has a clutch problem - clutch pedal will go to floor - gear shift will go to any gear - car is not in gear and will roll backward so I know it is not in gear. A strong burning smell was present when it stopped running. I think the clutch was replaced at 60K and the cable was replaced at 85K. Please advise.

Does the clutch pedal feell ike it did when it worked, as far as resistance? Or does it just fall to the floor. If the trans goes into gear, but wont move it could be a bad clutch. Look under it first to be sure the axles are ok and plugged into the trans all of the way. Usually a burning smell indicates a burnt disc though

Hello. The clutch did not stay on the floor. It felt loose but did come back to position. When it is in any gear it's basically in neutral. Do you have any guess of rough cost to replace? Obviously it's old and I don't want to dump too much in.

According to Mitchells labor guide, it should be around $600
