RPM Guage works intermittently, then stops, then works intermittently. It gives a code (PO725) Engine input speed or something to that affect. I erased codes three times, usually comes back on in a few minutes, but after I erased code last night I drove back and forth, roughly 3- 4 blocks code did not come back on, neither did RPM gauge leave zero.

Since P0725 Is a generic code, Is that the same meaning as VSS (Variable Speed Sensor)?
If so, I need to locate it for testing, and receive proper instructions for testing if I am on the right track.

Here's how to test it it is an ignition coil connector or problem not getting power correctly.
Disconnect 26-pin TCM harness connector "A". Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between 26-pin TCM harness connector "A", terminal No. 5 (Blue wire) and terminals No. 13 or 26 (Brown/Black wires). See Fig. 9.
If about 7 volts is present, check for loose TCM harness connectors. Replace TCM with a known-good unit if necessary. If about 7 volts is not present, repair open or short in Blue wire between ignition coil and 26-pin TCM harness connector "
