Engine Performance problem
1998 Rover Metro Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Was nearly home the other night, my headlights started to dim and throttle wasnt very responsive. Then I lost power all together. Tried restarting, makes a small noise when I turn the ignition but never sounds as though its going to start. Also the exhaust fell off a few weeks back, does this have anything to do with it? Called a garage to come and look at it week but gonna cost me an arm and a leg. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Is the engine actually turning over ? From the slight description you have supplied I think your battery has gone flat due to the alternator not working ... charge or replace the battery and try to start the car again !! or try jump starting the car .. then we can test the alterantor !!

let me know
