Rough running engine with unknown cause

The engine of the car runs rough and hesitates but not always. It has periods when it runs completely normal and then is back to running poorly. It will also just up and die suddenly but will immediately start back up again. We recently replaced the distributor rotor and the module and only noticed the issue about 1000 miles after that.

See if you can move the rotor in the dist it should have very little movement, the gear on the dist may be worn out or wearing out. Also scan for codes and check fuel pressure if TBI should be 9-11 psi autoparts rent the gauge
