Trunk delay I heard the beep and click?

So I have a brand new 2025 k4 with only about 300miles on it and I noticed I have an intermittent issue with my trunk. So yesterday I pressed down the trunk button on my key fob and I heard the beep and click as if my trunk were unlatching but it remained closed. It wasn't until the third attempt that it finally opened. Now it's working just fine but there's certain times I'll press the fob and it doesn't unlatch or only partially lifts when trunk is popped. Any ide what the issue could be?

Yep, I would use WD40 on the trunk latch to see if that helps. The electric actuator may be slightly misaligned or stiff from the factory. Sometimes they loosen up after a bit of use. Please upload a video of the problem in your response so I can see?

After the third time hitting button it released slowly without fully lifting. I rarely use my trunk maybe three times over 4 months

It seems like the gas lift shocks are bad, this is a new car though so it is a strange problem, when you push the button for the trunk to open can you try helping the trunk lid up to see if that helps. This way we can tell if the problem is the latch or the lift shocks. Thanks for the video it helps.

Rarely use my trunk, been like a month since I last popped it open and today I went shopping and went to pop the trunk and I heard it unlatch but didn’t lift so closed it and tested again and it worked just fine. I noticed an oil residue on the knob’s of the trunk latch as well. Would cold weather in the 30s-40s lately cause it to get stuck or Is this indicative of an actual electrical issue With the trunk?

Noticed that when closing trunk a low ringing sound is emitted. It persists for about 10 seconds after the latch is closed. Does it have to do with key fob? Because I keep a spare smart key fob in my purse in the trunk and only when that purse with the extra fob is in the trunk then the trunk emits that noise, otherwise it doesn’t do it.

If you leave a key fob inside the trunk, especially a spare or second fob, the car will detect it and emit an audible warning tone to prevent you from locking the keys in the car. Let us know if you need anything else.

It sounds like the trunk latch is weak, I would replace it and make sure the trunk lift shocks are in good shape.

Is it common for a latch to be weak? Cars brand new and my grandma has the same car no issues

Thanks for the video, yes this will be a programming issue, it looks like the car will need to be updated at the dealer. I would take it back to them and show them what you showed me. They should reflash the BCM and CAN-bus system which will fix the problem. Please let me know how it goes.

They think maybe the oil from the detailer on the rubber grommets is causing it to stick. Is this possible? They wiped down the trunk rubber and tested and seemed to work but issue is intermittent so wanted to have a full inspection anyway

Yes, that is possible, they probably oiled it to help it open easier. You might need to have the car reprogrammed or updated at the dealer, but I would try a hard system reboot first, here is a video to help you see how:

Update the Dealership couldn’t replicate the issue so they just cleaned the grommets and connectors and sent me on my way saying that it was likely just the oil from the detailer causing the trunk to stick with lack of use/ weather changes. They said they can’t identify an issue unless it can be replicated and of course it worked when they looked at it

Yep, that makes sense, they need to see the problem or they cant fix it. So it the problem still there now that you have the car back?

I haven't tested yet but is it possible they just needed to clean the grommets and connectors? They insisted it probably was just sticking from the oil applied at the detailer
