I had my car maintenance done today (Oil change and Differential fluid change) at a dealership. When I looked at the maintenance code it was changed from A16 to B 100% oil life. I read where the B should be reset as well so I did that and it went to A 100% oil life, but was it a mistake? Did I confuse the maintenance schedule system? The Diff fluid change was not required at the time, but I had it done anyway.

Thanks, Tom

Sure, here is how to rest the engine oil change service light reminder.

Resetting the Maintenance Minder
NOTE:

The vehicle must be stopped to reset the Maintenance Minder.

If a required service is done and the Maintenance Minder is not reset, or if the Maintenance Minder is reset without doing the service, the system will not show the proper maintenance timing. This can lead to serious mechanical problems because there will be no accurate record of when the required maintenance is needed.

You can reset all maintenance items by batch, or you can select and reset each maintenance item individually on the display.

1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

2. Press the HOME switch.

3. Select the "Maintenance" screen by rolling the multi-function steering wheel controller, and then press and hold the multi-function steering wheel controller for 10 seconds or more to show the reset mode.

4. If you reset all the maintenance items shown on the display "A23 (for example)", select "All due items" by rolling the multi-function steering wheel controller and press it. If you reset each maintenance item individually, select an item (complete list of maintenance main item(s) and sub item(s)) you wish to reset by rolling the multi-function steering wheel controller and press it.

NOTE:

If you are resetting the Maintenance Minder when the engine oil life is more than 15 %, make sure any maintenance item(s) requiring service are done before resetting the display.

To cancel the reset mode, toggle the multi-function steering wheel controller to the left.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the info. When the dealership was finished with my maintenance, they changed the Maintenance Minder from A16 15% Oil Life to show B 100% Oil Life. Since I had the Differential fluid changed early I reset the B 100% Oil Life which then showed A 100% Oil Life. Did doing this reset of B to A cause me to miss other maintenance items? I have read that A16 indicates that the Diff. Fluid *Should* be changed (in addition to other items) at his time and I assumed the 'B' somehow was showing the Diff. Fluid still needed to be done. Did I mess up the Maintenance Minder system?

Hi Ken,

I did some searching on the internet on how to reset the "A" maintenance status to "B". Simply going into the Maintenance Minder this morning and looking at the reset options (I did not find these earlier) I was able to reset the code to "B" without resetting the current Oil Life. I just held down the reset button on the steering wheel (for some time) and the reset options list simply showed up.

Thanks for looking at this issue for me.
