Replacing The Relay

My husband will be needing to replace the relay in our 2002 Town N Country. How can my husband run a check on it before replacing it. My wipers were not shutting off when I had shut off my van. I had it looked at by a service worker at a dealer and they told me it needs to be replaced because I have an old one in it. My husband prefers to work on it himself so we are not charged ridiculous prices.
Thank you!

I haven't looked at your wiring, yet. The relay probably has two circuits, the coil side of relay and load side of relay. If you apply voltage and ground to coil side of relay, there should be continuity on the load side. You may be able to hear it click?

If there is a diode, it can make a difference which side is voltage and ground.

As you can see, more than one relay. Terminals 85 and 86 are the coil side of relay.
