I bought my car like a month ago and the steering wheel airbag has cracks in it. I don't see any lights or any error on the dashboard for the airbag. My question is, if I replace the airbag that I can order from the Honda online for the airbag? Can I just replace it straight without changing the module or any other sensors? The airbag didn't deploy or anything, so I just want to be sure if I can just take out my current airbag and just replace it with the new one I'll be getting? And also there's another option where I can get an airbag cover for my airbag since it hasn't deployed and my reason of changing is because of the cracks, is that route okay too? Thank you for your time!

Hi,

If nothing has been deployed, here are the directions for replacement. The attached pictures correlate with the directions.

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (CLICK HERE) and the precautions and procedures (CLICK HERE) before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:
If replacing the driver's airbag after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment (CLICK HERE) for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
Unless otherwise indicated, illustrations used in the procedure are for dual inflators.

1. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Disconnect
NOTE: Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Driver's Airbag - Remove

Pic 3

1. Install the all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE:
During installation, install the new TORX bolts to the specified torque.
Make sure the clearance (A) between the steering wheel and horn pad is the specified value.
After connecting the negative cable to the 12 volt battery, make sure the horn works properly.

4. SRS Operation - Confirm
1. Do the 12 volt battery terminal reconnection procedure, turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Thank you for the response! So I'm assuming that since mine didn't deploy and I have no airbag light on. I can just go and do the removal process and just replace the steering airbag with a new one?

It should be fine. Just make sure to follow the directions I gave you and make sure there is no power to anything. If you noted, it directions indicate to disconnect the power and wait. I would wait about 30 minutes, but the directions say different.
