I have gotten to my starter and have my manifold ready to remove but the oil stick is in the way and there is no way to get to it with the motor in the way, but I'm at home and need it done by tomorrow. Is there any way to remove the oil stick without moving the motor or motor mounts?

Hi,

If it is the transmission dipstick tube that is the issue, there is a bolt holding it in place behind the catalytic converter. See pic 1.

However, the directions indicate the engine needs to be lowered for the removal of the starter motor.

I attached the directions I have below. Take a look and let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

joe

It seems rhe manifold is really wedged in there and there is no way to get it out I tried but I dont want to bend or break anything. Ive got the tire off, the manifold unscrewed and now I have a seized or stuck bolt on the motor mount we got 2 of 3 undone and the other seems someone already tried and possibly stripped it? How can I get it out safely.

It also called for the removing of my battery to be able to see the starter underneath it I have a 2007 kia Sorento 4wd v6 they're the only version of a Sorento that requires a lot of removing parts. Also, another guy said to remove my oil stick not the transmission but I don't see how that will help. The only thing that will give me more room is if I can wedge out the manifold that won't fit to come out.

Hi,

Chances are you won't get the manifold out. I have no idea why people design things like this.

As far as I know, the engine needs to be lowered. However, anything is possible. As far as lowering the engine, it sounds like a nightmare, but it's not as bad as you would think. You don't need the tool that is listed. You could use a floor jack to gently lower it once the mount is unbolted.

Let me know if you have questions and if I can help.

Take care,

Joe
