How hard is this to do at home by yourself with no mechanical experience? How long does it take? Do you need any special tools? Plug and play part # 2fxyr.

There are plenty of things that I would recommend for the beginner to try, but cylinder head on a mariner v-6, no way! There are special tools and procedures for timing that if not done correctly can damage the engine and end up costing you more money. Just my opinion.

What does the plug and play mean on this? The guy at AutoZone said that I wouldn’t need any special tools or do the timing on the chain because it was all already set on the one I bought because it’s “plug and play”. I have no clue, just asking your thoughts.

The only way that's possible is if the chain comes with pulleys that are tie strapped onto the chain in the correct orientation, but you will still need to get the engine in the correct placement to put this chain set in place, and the pulse wheel will need to be in the correct position or else the engine will not start.
