After I replaced the transmission filter and fluid in a 700r4 out of my 1988 heavy half ton I put in my 1993 Chevrolet 2500 which previously had a 4l80e. I’ve gotten the drive shaft and everything bolted up. However, it seems that my shift linkage isn’t lining up and when I crawl under and shift it by hand the truck acts as if my brakes were locked up. And also are the transmission cooler lines routed the same.

Good morning,

You most likely will need to remove the linkage from the original transmission and install it on the donor transmission. Then see if it lines up.

As far as the cooler lines, you will probably need to move them around to line up. There are minor differences for the alignment.

Also, what do I need to do in order for my TCC to work properly? Like I said this truck previously had a 4l80e in it.

Do you have a code for this?

Is this a new or used transmission?

Do you have a scan tool to read the live data for the transmission?

Update: it’s been about six months since the last time I cranked the truck. I just cranked it and it will go into neutral and all forward gears but it won’t find reverse and also I have to pull up on the shifter in order to turn my key all the way off. So if I was to guess, I’d say it was my linkage all along. Just a little awkward to adjust by your self.

Yes, I agree.

Take your time and adjust it correctly and see if you get all the gears.

Got it.

It sounds like you have an internal issue with the transmission.

Sounds like a bad transmission.
