2002 Renault Megane Renault Megane 1.6v sport 2002 cutting

I have a 52 plate 1.6v megane sport, when starting the car I push the start button and the car starts immediatly, by the time I put the cat into gear and apply my foot to the accelerator it cuts out. This can happen several times and continues until I manage to pull off and get the revs up. Any ideas

Is the CEL/MIL (check engine light) showing on the dash display. Does the vehicle run good the rest of the time? Does it stall at light's etc.?

The light was on for two - three days, but has gone off again, the problem still persists. As soon as I have managed to start the car & pull off it runs perfectly and does not cut out at all, it simply happens when first starting.
If I am able to pull straight off with high revs I can sometimes start first time and car drives fine.
Do you have any thoughts on this?

Check and clean the IAC (idle air control) valve

It is a very easy repair. Your local library should be able to supply a manual. For diagrams etc.
