You cannot disable the immoboliser on this vehicle as it is built into the ECU (engine control unit/computer). Some ECU reprogramming company's offer a reprogrammed ECU without the immoboliser chip inside. But they can be expensive !

Thanks,
I have found some help here for anyone else with similar issues

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/mitchell1eautorepair-car-repair-manuals

It hasn't solved the problem but its a good start.

The problem being my key fob simply wont activate the central locking or the immobiliser, i have changed the batteries and re-soldered the infra red bulb which is working as i can see the light flash when looking through a camera phone.

It looks like the problem is in the ECU as the Central locking twangs and buzzes even when activated by the switch inside the car. I imagine this cost me a few quid.

I'm furious as surely there should be an option to switch it off, I will not be buying another Renault.

You can have the key and car reprogrammed back together at a cost of around 140 pounds. Also most manufacturer's use this system now ! So most cars on the market will give you the same problem !
