I think spider gears in rear end are damaged (not certain) from over driving in 4x4. But regardless would like to make this vehicle a front wheel 2 wheel drive only. Can it be done?

The vehicle operates under a torque distribution system with selection knob on dash. In 2 wheel drive selection. The vehicle will go to 4x4 automatically if needed and detected by spinning or lost traction.

A 2 x 4 vehicle will still serve our needs so hoping it can be converted at minimal cost of course.

Good evening,

You could try removing the fuse for the control for the AWD module and see if it defaults to 2 wheels only. If it does, you are good.

If it does not, then the transmission will need to be changed to a front-wheel only.

Fuse is the cheapest. The downside is you will have traction control lights, ABS lights, and possible check engine light always on.
