I need help in finding what I need to do to fix a rear sway( stabilizer bar) that has broken free on the drivers side of the car. The bar is intact and it looks like the connector is still on the end. It’s still connected to the passenger side of the vehicle. When I look up under the car, whatever it was connected to, appears to have been part of a large square (rectangle) metal bracket which is bolted on the frame. The bracket is rusted and so whatever was housed in it has also rusted through and I can’t tell what it looked like originally or what is needed to resecure the stabilizer bar? Though that part has rusted through, the frame is still strong. I can’t find any information on how that bar connects to the frame or if there was another component it connected with to the frame? All I could find is apparently the PT Cruisers from 2003 on didn’t have a separate sway bar in the rear but some sort of of integrated stabilizer bar with a Watts linkage? From the look of what’s left of the bracket, it can be removed via the bolts and replaced, but I don’t know what part it is or if there’s more to it?

Yes, this car does have a watts style of locator, but the sway bar itself mounts to the frame of the car and then it uses links to attach to the rear axle. So it sounds like the mounting bracket to the frame mount is gone or rusted through correct? Can you upload an image so we can see it? You may need to get a used bracket from ebay and replace it. Also, if the frame is rusted it will need to be repaired or if the car is not driven at high speeds you can remove the sway bar completely. Some car don't even come with a rear sway bar FYI.
