Took an impact from a wreck slide into a tree. My running lights in the rear stopped working. Headlights. Blinkers, and brake lights all still work beside the taillights.

Hi,

Since it is only the rear parking lights not working, it leads me to a possible issue with the taillight relay or tail lamp fuse under the hood. But I'm looking at the wiring schematics and it appears the front parking lights wouldn't work either.

Also, there is a junction located at the front of the left rear quarter panel. Was that the side that was hit?

I attached the wiring schematic below, so you have a reference. Take a look through it and let me know your thoughts. Also, let me know where the vehicle was hit. Maybe that will help point me in the right direction.

I highlighted some wires that are related to the rear lamps. Interestingly, they get power from the same place as the front parking lights. Note: The wiring schematic below is from one picture. I had to cut it in half to make it readable for you. I did overlap the two so you can follow from one to the next.

Let me know.

Joe

I had just barely hit it on my passenger side on the tail like about 4 inches back from it I have torn all the panels off in the rear both sides wires grounds plugs all check out. Can I jump the wires from my trailer light converter I have it out at the moment to see if that was my issue I believe my open circuit relay is my problem.

Hi,

If you jump power from the trailer wiring, make sure you remove the fuse under the hood for the rear lights. Although it wouldn't be how I would want to fix it, I guess it would work.

Actually, it won't work. I looked at the schematic again. If you remove the integration relay, you lose other things including the front parking light.

If you are sure the grounds are good and are questioning the open circuit relay, remove the relay and with a short jumper wire, jump pins 30 and 87 to see if the lights turn on. If they still don't, see if one of the pins I mentioned has power. One should and one won't.

Let me know.

I removed the trailer light converter. Then I connected the plugs back without the tlc checked power to my fuses found it was popped which explained why my dash light being out once I replaced the fuse everything came back to life. Then I put the trailer harness back up no taillights but that's okay with me because if I pull a trailer it's a 4by8 for my dirtbike plenty of room to see my taillights. Thanks for the help it was greatly appreciated.
