I have tried everything I can think of to get the seal out and it will not budge. I don’t want to do anything drastic so that I don’t scar the crank.

Hi,

You will need to tap a hole into the metal housing and then use what is called a jet plug remover or something that will do the same.

I attached the directions below and a pic of a jet plug remover.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe

Finally! Thank you for the suggestion. I didn’t have a jet plug puller, but after drilling a 1/8” hole, I was able to pry it out with a pick. It held on to the very end!

Hi,

You are very welcome. I'm glad to see you got it out. They can be a pain.

When you install the new one, make sure to lubricate the seal with motor oil before installing it.

Take care and please feel free to come back anytime in the future.

Joe
