Rear hatch door will not stay closed

Suddenly the rear hatch door will not stay closed. I have tried poking the rotating metal cam in the lock (used to work on old cars I have had but did not work this time). I cannot check anything to do with the locking as it will not actually close.
I guess replacing it is easy but if there is a fix I would rather do that.

Solved. When I dismantled it I found the lever that is controlled by the central locking was withdrawn when it should have been engaged. I manually pushed it back where the servo should have put it and tested it whilst watching it and it looked okay. I reinstalled and it is functioning fine. Perhaps the central locking got 'confused'? Not sure but it is okay now :).
