When I apply my brakes I hear a loud clunk noise (only once when applying brakes), it sounds like it is coming from my driver side rear tire area. When I release the brake it is a lighter clunk sound. It does not do this in reverse when braking. Also, when going over washboard road it sounds like something is loose, same area. Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks,
Christine

Christine:
Safely lift and secure the vehicle. Remove the wheel where the noise seems to be coming from. Remove the brake drum or rotor to see of there are any broken springs or lose components. That is where I would start. Let me know what you find.

I did remove the tire this afternoon, but with limited time I just looked for anything out of the norm. I will check it out tomorrow, I appreciate your input!

That will do it. Lol. Not a safe problem, though. Glad you got it fixed!
