Hi,

There is a rattling noise like a metal chain being heard intermittently. Happens when going over the slightest of bumps, braking and turning.

Also, The engine sounded like it was working harder on the highway than usual and has a rough idle. Car vibrates a little more than usual (This is not from the wheels). Feels weak and sounds rough in the 1500 - 2000 rpm range whilst accelerating. And the gear stick feels a bit "clunky" when changing gears.

Not sure if the two issues are related but any help in diagnosing would be great. I am a first year apprentice mechanic, so I can do a lot of the work myself but need help with the diagnosis. Thank you.

The ratting when turning sounds like a sway bar link is bad.

Here is a guide that will help you see what I am talking about:

You might need to raise the car up here is how to do it safety.

Please start a new question about the engine problem to keep them separate.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken
