Attempting to replace the radiator. I have viewed many of the posts but am not finding a way to get the elect fan housing past the engine fan. Are 99's any different? Thought 1999-2004 were supposed to be the same. Any help would be appreciated.

Good morning,

When I do this, I remove the radiator, shroud and electric fan as an assembly and then remove all the extras out of the car.

How far have you gotten so far?

Sorry about that. I have everything disconnected but am unable to get the elect fan, by itself or with the radiator, passed the motor fan. I was considering cutting the lower elect fan housing to get it passed the motor fan. But, I am trying to do it the right way and know it can be done.

Okay, got it.

You need to remove the engine cooling fan. There are four bolts on the fan that have to be removed and then the radiator will come up with the electric fan.

Thank you. That may be easier said than done. ;) Doesn't seem very accessible but I'll give it a try. Is there a special tool to make that angle? Do you suggest getting to it above or below the fan?

Yes, that is the way to remove it.

The tool is shown in the picture. You can rent that tool at a parts store for the removal.

Thank you Roy. So that tool removes the nut holding the fan to the engine or do I just remove the four smaller bolts holding the fan on?

You are welcome.

It holds the fan from turning while you loosen the four nuts that secure the fan to the water pump pulley.
