Hello,

My name is Jimmy and I have been following your rebuild video on the SBF 302 and stroking it to a 347.

I'm not exactly stroking the engine just following along with the rebuild process since this is my first time ever doing anything like this.

I have thrown on up till part 7 of the build, my main question is that you had linked some push rods that are 6.876 in length.

I read on a forum that the official length for flat tappets is 6.905 inches long. (I have a flat tappet cam).

Would I be able to use the link you have provided in the video and be fine? I am using my stock heads and am trying to do this at a budget friendly manner, would the difference of 0.029 in length be a no, no?

Hi Jimmy,

I have forwarded your question to Ryan our YouTube person. I'm certain he will be in touch with you.

Take care of yourself. Also, let me know if you don't hear from them within a day or two.

Joe

Hey there! Thank you so much for watching, and for using the site!

Before I get to your question, I just want to make sure you told your machine shop that you are planning on putting a stroker crankshaft in the block. Reliefs need to be cut in the block to accommodate that. You cannot just put a stoker crank in a completely stock 302 and be okay.

So, I went with a completely stock length on those pushrods, I just got the hardened versions. Since you are using stock heads you really want that stock pushrod length. It would be a real bummer to have them be too long and the keepers end up smashing into the top of the valve seal. I went over that in the video where we put the upgraded heads on and compared them to the stock heads.

Thanks again for watching!

Best,
Ryan
