A very audible clanking in the pulley area. I can't quite pick the pulley out and can't find a decent diagram to select where I think I narrowed it down to. I will attach a photo. It's a random clanking sound. No rhythm. My serpentine belt is worn out to heck as I just bought this car for little to nothing from a young teenage girl. Her father bought from an auction and has proved to be the project. Anyways, if anyone can point me in a direction it would be much appreciated. I'm very mechanically inclined but not a mechanic. So advise per me not knowing much. Thanks guys in advance. -Cheers-

I would start with removing the belt and running the engine to see if the noise is gone. If it is then clearly it is a belt or pulley and we can narrow it from there. If not, we can dig deeper.

However, if it is gone, I would put a new belt on it just to see if it was the belt. It is unlikely that it is causing the noise but we need to start with the basics and make sure the belt is good to go.

Let me know if you have questions or what you find. Thanks

Sounds great. Just remember before you put it on, just start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to see if it does the noise. If not, install the belt and we can see if it starts doing it again. It will run fine on the battery for a while but if you are concerned about draining the battery, put a charger on the battery when you are doing this. If you don't have one, just hook jumper cables to another vehicle and start both while running this one with no belt. The alternator of the other vehicle will keep both batteries properly charged for a short time. Thanks
