Professional opinion of make/model

I'm looking at buying a used 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS I just want to see from a mechanics point of view if you see any reoccurring problems with this make/model with the cars you work on. I didn't do this last time and bought a 2001 Toyota Corolla and found out after that the make/model was notorious for burning excessive amounts of oil and I don't want to run into any surprises for this car purchase of the sonata.

I wouldn't go as far as saying the car is notorious for that. Many Toyotas have had oil consumption problems, but in reality the blame falls on the owners poor maintenance habits. I see them all the time with very high mileage and no oil consumption problems. There's nothing specific about the Hyundai either. Just remember that it's not a Lexus and don't expect it to hold up like one, but the car does very well for the value.
