Power windows problem

My power windows only work when the drivers side door is open all the way. When I close the door I can hear a sound like the power locks are engaging and then disengaging. The locks do not really lock and unlock, but I can hear the sound that it usually makes. Something seems to be disabling the power windows when the door is closed. I appreciate any help you could provide on this very frustrating problem. Thank you!

Sounds like you have a broke power feed wire in the boot that goes from the body of the car to the door. The power feed wire is much larger and does not flex like the other wires. So over time opening and closing the door the wire breaks. That is where I would start looking.

Looks like black it be noticeably larger then the rest and probably visibly broken. Pull the boot back and have a look at it.
