I noticed that the power steering reservoir was wet around the cap so I wiped it all down nice and dry. When I looked again the next day it was not as wet but there was fluid around the cap. What would cause the power steering fluid to be forced out the top of the reservoir? And no it is not spraying from a hose. It does this while driving or when I stop. I have started the car up let it run in the driveway for 30 minutes and nothing happen. I would have to take the hood off and drive it around in order to actually see when it does this.

Hello and thanks for your question!

More than likely the problem is with the reservoir cap. The power steering pressure is the most when turning the wheel, especially at lock. This could be difficult to spot, but considering the price of caps are anywhere between $10 - $20, it could be worth a try.

The OE Mopar part # for this cap is 5066031AA.

There is also the option for Dorman, available at all parts stores, sometimes labeled as "Dorman Help!", But the caps will "universal" however Dorman does make caps that are very close in look and function. A very similar Dorman cap part # is 82746, and I attached a photo of it below.

Let us know what you think and how you would like to proceed, we are here to help.
