I was driving last night and my power steering went out. I looked under the hood and the serpentine belt is off, and the power steering pulley is so loose it'll come right off. II need to know where I need to start. Do I need to look at the power steering pump at all? Does the pulley just need tightened or replaced? II have so many questions, and so little knowledge. I'm newly widowed, and everything is so expensive. Someone please help.

I am sorry to hear that, I can help you. Can you upload an image of the problem so I can see, it should like the pump has seized up which will cause the pulley to come off of the pump drive. But there is a chance the nut that holds the pulley on just came off. I need to see it to give you a better answer. Please upload pictures in your response. Check out the images (below).
