I started my van after I got off of work tonight. It was very cold so I sat there to let it warm up. A couple minutes went by and I heard this weird noise coming from the front of the van. I got out and looked under the van and it looked like a hose had busted. And it had a caramel looking fluid come out of it. There was a big pool of fluid. It was too late at night to take it any where so I attempted to drive home. I made it home. On the drive home. I had a hard time turning the wheel. Also it kept acting like the van wanted or was going to shut off as I sat there to let it warm up. So I pressed on the gas a little bit to keep it running. Is my power steering pump out, or could it just be the hose needs replaced?

Good morning,

Sounds like something failed in the power steering system. You need to have it checked to find out what actually failed and have it repaired.

This is why it is so critical to have the power steering fluid changed often especially when it comes to wintertime.

Have a shop check it for you and let me know what they find.
