When turning the steering wheel a whining sound occurs. On my last oil change I asked for a power steering fluid check, which came back okay. Do I need the lines to be bled or is the whining a sign of something wearing out?

It may be the power steering pump making the noise. Due to your mileage you might try changing the fluid otherwise a mechanic will have to check to see if it is the pump valve or not.

Thank you so much, and so quick. I was thinking a pump problem. How urgently should I have the pump checked?

It is not really urgent as a lot of pumps will whine until the car dies if you have added something like the wrong fluid at one time that will do it as well. Maybe next time you take car in for service unless you lose your steering which is unlikely.
