Please help.

2004 Ford Freestar. The rear climate control in the back seat ceiling is clicking and buzzing quite loudly (the random loud, electrical buzzing worries me about potential fire, sounds like an old hair clipper). Also, the unit itself (blower) by the sliding door on the floor clicks and seems to change randomly from heat to cool - even when the fan is off and the front dashboard controls show the "rear" is off.

I suspect a short in the rear ceiling climate control unit, but don't know how to get it out to check, or replace if needed. Please provide specific instructions (pictures/drawings very helpful/necessary, or link to video) how to do that if that's likely the issue.

If you think it might be something else, again specific drawings/picture/links to video would help a great deal.

Does the rear climate control in the back seat on ceiling need replacing? If so, how?

Thanks very much.

I haven't found a decent video yet that clearly shows how to remove it. As mentioned in part of my question, details how to do that, especially pics/drawings or link to a easy to follow video would be greatly appreciated.

Also, some of the reading I've been doing has mentioned a possibility of a bad acuator. Is that a possibility? If so, how can I tell whether or not that's bad? And would that part be in the rear of the car, in the compartment where the blower is (I hear clicking from the blower area as it switches on it's own from heat to cool, blowing air alternatively from ceiling or floor vents). That is in addition to the loud buzzing and clicking I hear from the control unit in the ceiling.

I'm not an expert, but have a little bit of knowledge, can learn more, and need to do this myself (budget reasons). Help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Since I'm Disabled for good reason, can barely walk, and my income is so limited, that leaves me with a decision to either buy the manual OR the part, and that doesn't help me.

So if anyone else can offer additional help, it would be greatly appreciated please.

Btw, the control unit doesn't work at all anymore, heat/cool will only operate from the front seat now. I'm guessing that confirms the problem is the control box and not any actuators?

Thanks.
