So I was driving down the road and for about four miles or so my engine light would come on for a minute and go off for a minute. In the process of getting to the next exit, my engine started to lose power, with speed needle decreasing and rpm needle doing the same. On the exit, my Electric Throttle Control came on and the power to the Jeep immediately went into safety mode (I'm guessing) and shut off. I took it to the shop and they did a compression test and one valve wasn't reading any compression at all. All the others were fine. What could possibly be the problem? And which would be cheaper? Spending the money to figure out the exact exact problem or just getting a new motor?

Good evening,

No matter what, you will need engine work. If they remove it and tear it down and there is a lot of damage, you will need a motor anyway.

I would just look for a good used motor to install. It would be much cheaper.

Go to www. Car-part. Com. I have used them dozens of times with great success.
