Possible Headlight/ Turn Signal Control Switch Issue?

While driving, when I push the turn signal for a left turn, it often does not engage. It goes all the way down, but the blinking arrow on the dash does not go on, no clicking, and the outside turn lights do not blink. If I turn the switch to neutral and then left again, the turn function works as normal. This is not happening with the right turn. If I push the left signal switch harder than usual, it always engages. Could be a coincidence, but I am unable to recreate the issue when parked, only while driving.

I am thinking a contact could likely be worn out or loose in the turn signal control switch and my instinct is to replace it, but I wanted to make sure I’m not missing something else that it could be.

Any advice or confirmation would be very appreciated. Thanks so much!

I think you are headed in the right direction, when the turn signal switch fails it acts light this. Here is how to change the switch out. You will need to remove the steering wheel so disconnect the battery first to disable the airbags. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.

Replacing the switch fixed the issue. In case anyone else comes across this thread, I’ll add a few helpful tips:

You will need a Philips screwdriver, flathead screwdriver to gently pry and push clips, a T40 bit to loosen the airbag screws, and a 13/16 socket for the steering wheel.

The job took me just over an hour - taking my time and referring to online videos. A few things looked different than online but taking my time (and photos) made sure I got everything back together properly. I used a felt marker to be sure I tightened the steering wheel and clock spring back in the same spot.

Huge thank you to Ken and 2CarPros for the assistance.
