Engine Mechanical problem
1983 Porsche 944 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive 87000 miles

i connected my test meter after disconnecting the battery and all wires from the coil. Meter set to ohms, when connected to the side terminals of the coil I read.8 ohms. When I use 1 side terminal and the high output, center terminal I only get 6.9. Your test method says I should read 10,000-11,000. Am I supposed to re-connect the battery before this test?

Turn ignition OFF and zero the meter

Read the primary by probing the coil positive and negative terminl should read .4-.6 of an 1ohm

Secondary probe the negative side of the coil and center tower of coil should read 5K-7200K ohms

Note: If any is out of range -replace the coil
