Electrical problem
1988 Porsche 928 V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 100000 miles

OLD ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP WAS VERY NOISY, DECIDED TO REPLACE IT. ORDERED NEW FUEL PUMP (BOSCH) INSTALLED IT & THE CAR WOULD'NT START. WHEN THE IGNITION WAS TURNED ON, THE NEW FUEL PUMP WAS'NT RUNNING. I REMOVED THE NEW FUEL PUMP FROM THE CAR AND TESTED IT USING A 9 VOLT BATTERY. THE NEW PUMP WAS'NT RUNNING. USING THE SAME 9 VOLT BATTERY I FOUND THAT THE OLD ONE WOULD WORK. RE-INSTALLED THE OLD ONE BACK IN THE CAR. WHEN CRANKING THE ENGINE, THE OLD ONE IS WORKING BUT, THE CAR WILL NOT START. NEW FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS INSTALLED AND THE 15 AMP FUSE IS GOOD. I CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT, CAN YOU? MUCH THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ASSISTANCE

The old one comes on but still will not start -check the fuel pressure-also are you getting spark? Double check the fuel pump connector-
