I have been experiencing poor gas mileage after having the following service done on my car; throttle service, new spark plugs, fixed a valve leak, replaced AC relay. Does anyone know what could be causing this decline in MPG?

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Right of the bat I will tell you that air conditioning use decreases mpg. It takes a little power from your engine and to make up for it, people tend to give it a bit more gas pedal. Want better mpg? Turn off that A/C. The transmission shifts okay? Goes into overdrive on the freeway normally? It does not make the engine rev too much? And what about that valve leak? What valve was that?

Thanks for the quick reply. The transmission is shifting normally, I am going on a road trip tomorrow and will let you know how the car handles extended highway miles. I will also get back to you regarding the valve leak after speaking with my mechanic.

Regards, Alex
