1992 Pontiac Transport TPS calibration

Hi,
I just replaced the TPS on our van because it was not starting right. If you would hold the throttle down slightly it would start but if you let go of the throttle it would stall even when driving. Now after the new part is on it is has a very fast idle 2000 rpm and the service engine soon light is on. I called the part store and they said the new part needs to be calibrated but could not offer advise. Please tell me how to do that. Also do you think it might be the IACV.

Now there is no calibration for the TPS but you can set adjust it a little not much. So what you need to do is have a digital mutli meter and a paper clip. Now the paper clip is used to back probe the connector at the dark blue wire. Now hook up you meter and turn the key on engine off you should read.8 volts on the 3.1 ltr engine and if it is the 3.8 ltr then it should be around.42 to.5 volts. Let me know how it goes. Thanks

Thank you for the reply. I do have a meter and a paper clip. I am not sure what to do with the paper clip. The meter I would check the gray wire with the red probe and the black wire with the black probe and put the paperclip in with the blue wire?

Use the paper clip to back probe the dk blue wire this is the signal wire to the computer and hook you red probe to that, then your black probe to a good ground and then turn the key on with engine off and adjust to the setting for you engine that I have already given you. Using the paper clip to slide up the back of the wire at the connector makes it so you don't pierce a hole in the wire, as this can cause corrosion. Let me know how it goes.
