I have a 1991 pontaic tempest and I think the water pump may have burst.I had a small antifreeze leak for awhile and would top up when low. And never had any trouble. But today it over heated and anti freeze was spilling everywhere and the steering wheel I had to fight with to move. Could this be both power steering and the pump

You probably burst a hose going to the engine and it got the belt wet making the pump slip. If you can't see the burst hose, then have it pressure checked. To find it otherwise.
