Sunfire fan control problems

2002 Sunfire, the AC and heater fan will run on the low and high setting, but nothing in between. I'm guessing the fan switch shunts through different resistors for the different speeds, so possibly the switch needs replaced. Any ideas?
Thanks.

You need to replace the Blower Motor Resistor.
To replace this, remove the blower motor, then remove the resistor.
Be careful when installing the resistor screws. You only torque them to 9 inch pounds. Do not crack then new resistor.

Where is the blower motor located, and is the resistor mounted directly to it? Can you purchase a resistor at a parts store, or is this a dealer item?
Thanks.

I believe you can obtain the resistor from a regular parts store, but not 100% sure. The resistors are usually located in the air stream of the ducting. When you remove the motor, it will look like a small block wir a plug attached. The place these in the air path to keep them cool since resistors this big heat up when you use them.
