Hi, I have a Pontiac Sunfire 2.4Lt, Sedan 2000. It has 79,200M. Apparently a light from the instruments cluster went down so the car is not showing the mileage. It only shows under very strong outside light.

I don’t live in the US but in Dominican Republic, so I have a car electrician to fix this, he says he doesn't know ho to safely open it in order to replace that bulb.

Many electronic instrument displays provide an initial illumination of all segments when the ignition switch is turned on. This illumination provides the operation of the display segments. During this initial display, all the segemnts in the electronic instrument displays should be brightly illuminated for few seconds. If SOME of the segments are no illuminated, replace the electronic instrument cluster. If NONE ( in your case)of the segment are illuminated, check the fuse and voltage supply to the display.
