When I put my 2002 sunfire into gear it doesn't move. The engine revs and it rolls in whatever direction the shifter is in. Forward in gears 1-5. Backwards in reverse. I've tried all gears with the same results.

Check the shifter cables for broken brackets, loose connections, but it sounds more like a bad clutch.

When replacing clutch, ALWAYS have rear main seal on engine replaced, resurface flywheel or get a new one.
