How do you change the license plate light bulbs on a 2000 Sunfire? I believe that the license plate lights also illuminate the "pontiac" logo on the back of the trunk. I took off my license plate but couldn't get to the lights from the outside. When I opened the trunk I removed 3 bolts, a high one right in the middle (that you can also see through the clear plastic on the outside of the trunk) and two other bolts on each side of the middle bolt.(The bolts have about 10 inches inbetween each other) I thought by removing the bolts I could pull the plastic off the outside of the trunk and replace the bulbs, but that didn't work either! Please HELP! Thanks!

Hello and thanks for donating!

SUNFIRE SEDAN Models

Detach the connector for the license plate lamp.
Grasp the bulb socket and rotate it counter-clockwise to remove it from the lamp.
Installation is the reverse of removal.

I did this and it worked! But just a heads up: on my 2000 coupe with a spoiler, I had to remove 9 nuts (one in the middle and 4 on each side) to get the entire lamp housing off. (In the pic it shows just the middle but it was actually the whole thing) A lot of work to replace just 2 little bulbs!
