Engine Cooling problem
1998 Pontiac Sunfire 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

I need to replace the cooling fan motor. I have the shroud loose and can move it from side to side, but no matter what I do I can not lift the unit out of the engine bay. My sunfire repair manual says it should just lift right out, but it won't. All wires and bolts are unattached. What am I missing?
thanks
mike

I have always removed them from underneith. Once you remove plastic guard and cross brace it should come right out.

Cross brace? When I looked under the car their is two large wire bundles that go across the bottom of the radiator just below it. It is attached with several push in plastic rivets. Is this the brace your talking about. Also not sure about the plastic gaurd you mention.
Thanks for the reply!

The sunfire im looking at has a plastic guard held in by push clips. Remove all of those remove guard once thats out of the way there should be 4 10 mm bolts holding fan radiator and condensor. Remove that bracket and chaulk up the radiator and condensor. Its probably easier to see if on a lift.
