1998 Pontiac Sunfire black smoke

I turned my car on and it blew black smoke and the reves went to 5, should I be concerned, it did it only once.

No if only once I wouldn, t worry several things could cause this.A bad convertor a map sensor bad spark plugs. Until it is worse it would be hard to find. Goodluck billymac
