My car stalled on me one day and I got it towed to a shop where they told me it was the fuel pump and it was going to cost me about $900 to fix. OK. I then was told that after it was fixed that it started and then stalled again. They then told me that it ends up to be a cam sensor and that it is going to cost me over $2000. I asked for the parts list and it only came to $750. Is it possible that it takes $1300 in labour to do this work? Or are they padding it?
thank you for your time

MAybe. There was ironic timing of failed parts.I have seen it before.

A cam sensor should be less than $200 for the sensor, half hour to install.

Fuel pump and filter about 2 to 2.3 hours to install both Filter about $20 and the pump no more than $525. Diagnosis time $100? Towing $60?
Somthing doesn't add up here.

I agree with pauly on this one.

I have changed a pump in your type of vehicle when I first started doing mechanicwork and it took me no more then 2 hours and about 500 in parts

and that sensor is no way HELL going to be anymore then 300
