he drivers side window goes down fine but then will only go up about a quarter of the way, if I drive around or leave it alone for a while it will go up alittle more and I can continue to do this until it goes all the way up. If I only put the window down a couple inches it goes back up fine.

Chances are it is the switch. WHat you need to do is remove the door panel and check to see if the motor is getting power when it won't go up. IF it isn't, replace the switch. If it is getting power, make sure the connections are clean and tight. IF they are, replace the motor.
