Engine Cooling problem
1990 Pontiac Sunbird 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi, My 1990 sunbird temp was running at 180, last week it started running at 220 before the cooling fan would kick in. Is 220 to high for this 4 cyclinder. If so what can I do to bring it down. Thanks, Billy

The only issue I see that you have/had is that the 180 is too low. It should be running a 195 T-stat and the fan isn't programmed to come on until over 225 degrees. Anything up to 230 is acceptable.
