The bearings in my gto 400 engine are wearing badly due to a poor break in. The oil pressure at idle is 40 psi and while running, 75 psi. I have a 60 psi pump. The pressure should be 60 constantly. What am I in for if I continue to run the car? Is the high oil pressure going to blow something out?

Ok high oil pressure is hard on the bearings. In time yes it will wash out the bearings. I would recomend replacing the high pressure pump with a hi volume pump. This way you will get the oil volume at the manufacture pressure. See with hi pressure pumps you must platiguage for proper clearances so that you pressure will be proper too. If you can rebuild the pump then put on a new pressure control spring. Hope this is what you were asking. Thanks
