Replace door struts?

I just bought a 2001 Pontiac Montana van with 54,000 miles. My problem is when the van is in my garage and I open the rear door, it touches the frame of the garage door opening. This will lead to scratching the paint on the van. Can I just replace the door struts with one that is just an inch shorter?

I thought that would be the solution, but when I went to the local parts store, they had no specifications on the struts. He told me, "They are over there, just find the one you need".

I also did a search through the strut manufacturer, but they don't seem to cater to individual customers, they just supply the industry customers.

I guess I will try the dealership next.
