Hello,

I will be relocating my family from the east coast to the west coast (apprx 3000 miles) and will be towing a 7x14ft enclosed cargo trailer (dual axle / elec. Brakes) the entire distance with the Montana.
Should I be installing a transmission cooler on the vehicle? Is there anything else I should do to prepare the vehicle for the trip (other than the full tune up I just had done at the GM dealer?).
The vehicle has a class 3 trailer hitch and the air compressor load leveling system in the rear of the van.
Thanks for your help.

Actually, a trans cooler wouldn't hurt, but I can't say it is necessary. It sounds like you had the vehicle checked. Just make sure to change the oil before leaving and have the brakes checked too. If the air filter hasn't been replaced or fuel filter, you may want to consider that. Make sure the coolant is full and clean. Most importantly, make sure you are not hauling more weight than is recommended in the owner's manual.
